What is Infusion Therapy?

Many treatments cannot be taken orally as they are not absorbed by the digestive system. In these cases, the treatment must be given by other means. Some treatments are best administered intravenously.

Lange Neurology sets the standard for infusion therapy:
experienced medical supervision, luxurious suites, patient comfort

Pre-Session Consultation

Prior to administering infusion therapy, we conduct a phone consultation with our patient to explain what to expect during the session. Our goal is for the patient to understand why they are receiving the treatment, how it will be administered, and what are the potential side effects.

Please note that given the comprehensive nature of infusion therapy, insurance pre-authorization often takes longer than other services.

IVIG is a solution containing immunoglobulin (antibodies) that are given intravenously. These antibodies are proteins that help fight infections and are a critical part of the immune system. IVIG is used to treat a variety of conditions, particularly those that involve immune system dysfunction including immune deficiencies, peripheral neuropathies such as CIDP and Guillain Barre syndrome, myasthenia gravis, stiff person syndrome and some inflammatory myopathies.

For more information visit, IVIG.

Biologics are medications produced by removing proteins or genetic material from living cells that can be purified and reproduced under laboratory conditions. Monoclonal Antibodies are identical to molecules found in the immune cells of living organisms.

They are used in drugs that treat various conditions, including:

  • Alzheimer’s Disease: Lequembi (Lecanemab) and Kisunla (donanemab)
  • Lymphoma and other immune mediated disorders: Rituximab (Rituxan)
  • Migraine Headaches: Eptinenzumab (Vyepti)
  • Multiple sclerosis: Natalizumab (Tysabri), Cytokines and Growth Factors such as Interferons
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: Adalimumab (Humira)

Infusing immunoglobulin, which contains antibodies, to boost the immune system and treat immune deficiencies or autoimmune disorders.

Lange Neurology offers a variety of infusions that ensure hydration, may boost overall well-being, increase energy levels and address specific health needs. These infusions generally involve the administration of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and other nutrients directly into the bloodstream. Infusion therapy allows for quicker absorption and more efficient delivery of nutrients to the cells compared to oral supplements.

Intravenous (IV) antibiotics are antibiotics administered directly into the bloodstream through an IV line. This method of administration allows for rapid and effective delivery of the antibiotic to the site of infection, making it particularly useful in treating severe or life-threatening infections, or when oral antibiotics cannot be absorbed effectively (such as in patients with gastrointestinal issues or when the infection is too severe for oral treatment). Intravenous antibiotic therapy is often needed to treat Lyme disease, bartonella bergdorfi.
